Short Track Camp
Please join us for Short Track Camp from 9am - 5pm in Portage la Prairie at Stride Place. This camp is designed for club, Development Team, and Provincial Team skaters. Skaters 6 and up are welcome to attend. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact info@speedskatingmb.com.
The camp registration fee is $75 + GST. Registration deadline: October 1.
This is non-refundable unless you select the refundable upgrade option. In the event that SSM needs to cancel the event due to unforeseen circumstances all registrations will be refunded with exception of he refundable upgrade fee. This is non-refundable, and event cancellation is not covered by the third-party partner.
Parent/Volunteer Training
Speed Skating Manitoba is a volunteer-run organization and relies heavily on volunteers to support our competitions and events. There are a variety of volunteer roles to suit different skills, interests, and levels of experience.
We have exhibition races planned for the afternoon of camp and will need parent/volunteer support to help run the races. Parents, please plan to stay for the afternoon and get involved!
No experience is necessary. If you’re new to volunteering at a speed skating event, you’ll be supported by experienced volunteers and parents who can show you the ropes. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about the sport and get involved in supporting our athletes.
Coach Mentorship Program
Speed Skating Manitoba values our coaches of all levels and strive to create opportunities for skill development. We are pleased to include a Coaching Mentorship session at Short Track Camp. This will be a FREE one day mentorship opportunity to learn and develop your skills under experienced SSM coaches.

Please join us for Long Track Camp from 10am - 3pm at the Cindy Klassen Rec Complex. This camp is designed for club, Development Team, and Provincial Team skaters. Skaters 6 and up are welcome to attend. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact info@speedskatingmb.com.

We are planning to do an officials practice event and equipment run through December 28th from 12pm - 3pm. Lunch will be included. Please sign up so we know how many to plan for.

Join us on Winnipeg’s largest outdoor ice surface for an afternoon of skating, hot chocolate, great music, and community fun! Bring your friends and family, your skates, and plenty of warm clothes.
Want to try something new? Try real speed skates and test your speed with our speed radar!
New this year: We are introducing speed skate rental reservations to help ensure everyone who wants to try a pair has the opportunity to do so. Be sure to reserve your rental time when you register! Registration is not required, but it is appreciated to help us plan for the event.
The first 400 people to register will receive a FREE Skate the Oval toque!
Once registration reaches 400 participants, registration will close. However, we still encourage you to come out and enjoy the event!

The event will not be rescheduled. CYLTC Athletes: to qualify, you must submit your 500m seed time to Garrett by Saturday at 12:00 pm. Top 2 per category will be notified Monday morning. Further details have been shared via email.
2026 Western Canadian Outdoor Classic
Setters Place Oval
Red Deer, Alberta
This event focuses on competitive events that are used at the national level, such as Canadian Youth Long Track Championships and Canada Cups. This event will be offered as an open competition, wherein skaters from across Canada and the United States are welcome to attend. This is an annual event hosted in collaboration with Speed Skating Manitoba, Speed Skating Saskatchewan, Speed Skating Alberta, and Speed Skating BC to preserve outdoor speed skating venues in Western Canada.
Entry Deadlines
Early Bird: December 15th
After December 15th - Full Price
Registration closes January 2, 2026 (11:30pm). Registration after the deadline is double the regular registration fee.
If the event is cancelled due to weather, full refunds will be issued to all registrants ( Ice Reg fees are non-refundable).

Intro to Competition Coaching Clinic

An Introduction to Competition Certified Coach is qualified to assume the responsibilities of a head coach with skaters in Learning to Train (L2T) and Training to Train (T2T) stages of development. It is also the minimum certification required to coach at SSC Championships, selection events, and the MB Winter Games. This course will be facilitated by Scott Van Horne.
